Welcome to our Community Spotlight featuring on of my favorite spots Commercial Street in Portland, Maine! The entire street borders the working waterfront, giving a coastal vibe with stunning views, entertainment, dining, and living in the condos overlooking Casco Bay. The Eastern Promenade Trail, is a paved walking trail that starts on commercial street, takes you to East End Beach and goes around Portland’s Back Bay.
I love spending all day here with plenty of things to do – all within walking distance! I start with a classic favorite, Becky’s Diner for breakfast and then walk around to many of the local shops including:
– Portland Dry Goods
– The Blue Lobster
– Old Port Wine Merchants
– The Fish & Bone and many more!
From Commercial Street I love being able to hop on a quick ferry to multiple different islands, especially Peaks Island in the summer where they host a Reggae Festival every Sunday! It’s hard to beat the food scene on Commercial Street.
A few restaurants you have to try are: Portland Lobster Company, Boones, Solo Italiano, Jays Oyster Bar, Luke’s Lobster, Dimillos on the Water, and one of my favorites… Scales. A great way to end the evening is with a Sunset Sail around the Portland Harbor or a cocktail at the Porthole! There’s so much more to do Commercial Street, and these are just few of my favorites.
