It’s summer in Maine and what many Mainer’s like to do is to go camping. It’s great to get back to nature, do some hiking, biking and fishing all while being house in a nylon tent. Cooking on the campfire and relaxing with friends and family is so nice. There are tons of really large, well known campgrounds in our area, but that’s not what we are going to talk about today. Here’s a few off the beaten path and not so well known campgrounds for you to explore. Sagadahoc Bay Campground is located on Georgetown Island just outside of Bath. This campground is located on the shores of Sagadahoc Bay with ocean front sites. There is a beautiful sandy beach for swimming, lawn games, boating and fishing are just a few of the activities you can do here. Just over 160 sites on this property ranging from tent sites, rv, pop up travel trailer and cottages. And… there’s no need to leave your pup at home.
The Homestead Campground, located on the banks of the Saco River in Biddeford. This is a nice family campground with a large playground area for the kids. Swimming, canoeing and fishing. The family owned campground makes it known that it’s not a Camping Resort. Loon’s Haven Family Campground located on the Shores of Trickey Pond in Naples. Loon’s Haven has about 140 sites for tents, cabins, rv’s and they even have glamping tents available. Now we are talking! This campground has it’s own store and cafe. There is so much to do in this area of Maine; boating, hiking, biking, fishing, golf, you name it. They’ve got you covered!
Buganut Lake Camping Area with its 110 camp sites sitting on 60 acres of beautiful Maine wooded land is a great spot for the whole family. This campground includes a recreaton hall for those rainy days with games for every camper like ping pong and pool. Great swimming, fishing and boating in the crystal clear Buganut Lake. There is also wifi and cable tv if you just need to watch that big game.
Wild Duck Adult Campground & RV Park, who knew there was a 21 plus campground? This 70 site campground is tucked away alongside the Scarborough Marsh.
